Molybdenum

  • Nitrogen metabolism
  • Male impotence
  • Gout
  • Candida
  • Iron utilization
  • Energy

Molybdenum is an essential mineral required in extremely small amounts for nitrogen metabolism. It is a vital part of the enzyme responsible for iron utilization.

It aids in the final stages of the conversion of purines to uric acid. Molybdenum cleanses the body of toxic compounds whose accumulation in our cells contributes to depression, pain, fatigue, and liver malfunction.

It is one of the most important nutritional weapons we have to combat sulfite allergies and chemical sensitivities.

Molybdenum helps rid the body of aldehydes, a by-product of yeast infection (Candida albicans).

Research indicates that it may relieve asthma, especially when given intravenously.

This nutrient generates energy and helps to manufacture hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells.

In daily amounts of 500 mcg, it can relive a broad range of aches and pains, including arthritis.

Molybdenum can also help to overcome seizures in newborns.

Deficiency: May cause impotence in older men. People with diets high in refined and processed foods are at a risk for deficiency.

Sources: Beans, beef liver, cereal grains, dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, and peas.

Precautions: Toxicity is rare but 5 to 10 mg a day can be considered toxic.

Dosage Ranges and Duration of Administration: No dietary allowance has been set, but the estimated daily intake of 75 to 250 mcg has generally been accepted as the adequate human requirement.

Up to 200 mcg daily may be called for if you wish to address some of the conditions just listed above. If you eat a diet high in protein or sulfur-containing foods, such as eggs, you'll need more than the minimum amount.
