Burdock is recommended during pregnancy and for various female complaints, because of its ability to aid in hormone balance and prevention of water retention. It is also used to promote kidney function. Burdock also inhibits mutations in cells that can lead to cancer. Burdock root contains polyacetylenes which kill bacteria and fungi.
Invitro tests have found burdock extracts to have some activity against HIV.
It is beneficial for treatment of skin disorders, kidney problems, arthritis and gout.
