Chaste tree has traditionally been used for many conditions involving the female reproductive and hormonal systems.
It has been used to treat premenstrual syndrome, irregular bleeding, menopausal symptoms, swelling in the breasts, hormonal imbalance, heavy bleeding and frequent periods. A common problem for women nearing menopause is a decrease in the luteal phase. This is thought to be a result of low production of progesterone. This causes an abnormal balance of progesterone and estrogen levels. Chaste tree helps to balance these hormones and regulate a woman's cycle, including time in between menstruation, bleeding and length of period.
German studies show that chaste tree can decrease symptoms of swelling, tender breasts, irritability, anxiety, cravings, depression and fatigue. |
