Coltsfoot is a remedy for coughs and other respiratory ailments. It has a calming effect on the throat as well as the brain's cough-activating mechanism. When combined with horehound and marshmallow, it is one of natures great cough remedies.
It contains a high percentage of mucilage and saponinis which have disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effects that ease respiratory problems.
