Cranberry (Vaccinium Macrocarpon)

The fruit and juice of the cranberry are used to treat bladder and urinary tract infections. The primary bacteria associated with urinary tract infections is E coli, which prefers an alkaline environment to grow. Studies done at Weber State University in Utah have found substances in cranberries that can inhibit the adherence of E. coli bacteria to the bladder wall.

Cranberry also acidifies the urine, has anti-cancer properties, is good for the kidneys and the skin.
