Fenugreek is able to help the lungs by clearing mucus and phlegm in the bronchial tubes. Fenugreek combined with lemon juice and honey can help sooth the throat and reduce fever.
Fenugreek is native to southwestern Asia and is used for inflamed bowels and stomach problems because of its bowel-lubricating abilities.
Studies on diabetic animals have found fenugreek seeds to help reduce urinary glucose levels. The seeds contain the alkaloid trogonelline, nicotinic acid and coumarin. When the seeds were added to the insulin treatment of diabetic dogs, a decrease in insulin dose was noted.
