The ability of Ginkgo to boost brain function has been documented extensively. The increase in the oxygen supply to the brain cells is an important factor; the brain is the body's most sensitive organ to oxygen deprivation. Ginkgo Biloba has been used to improve electrical transmission to nerves and supply more oxygen and nutrients to the brain cells.
The nervous system and brain are particularly sensitive to free radical damage because of the high percentage of unsaturated fatty acids. The antioxidant activity of ginkgo extract has been found to be particularly powerful on these areas, as well as the eye and the retina. This can help with conditions such as retinopathy, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
The central nervous system contains fat lipids in the cell membranes often attacked by free radicals. Ginkgo can help to protect these cell membranes and prevent conditions which can occur in the brain and nervous system often associated with aging, such as memory loss.
Hundreds of studies have shown that gingko aids in arterial blood flow and blood flow to the brain. It is can also be effective in treating dementia, senility, vertigo, heart arrhythmias, tinnitus, depression, memory loss and intermittent claudication.
In addition, Ginkgo biloba has been found to be effective in treating migraine headaches.
- Hearing is improved with improved circulation.
- Increases tissue oxidation and improves vital nutrients being delivered to the body tissues.
- Improves blood circulation in the eye and related eye structures such as the retina, which helps prevent macular degeneration.
- Improves blood vascular system to the central nervous system; aids in the treatment of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and memory loss.
- Treatment for migraine headaches and tinnitus.
