Psyllium, when used properly, is a safe alternative to drug therapy for chronic constipation. The husks from the psyllium seeds are an excellent source of insoluble fiber and serves as a intestinal cleanser and stool softener. Psyllium acts to lubricate, moisten, and heal the intestinal tract. In India, Psyllium has been used as a diuretic, and in China, in combinations with other herbs, to treat bloody urine, coughing< and high blood pressure. Naturally, anything that can help to cleanse the colon of waste allows the body to gain better health, which in turn aids in better bodily function.
- Is very absorbing so it is essential to always drink over 8 glasses of water daily with it, because it expands.
- Soluble fibers prevent cholesterol absorption.
- Serves as a lubricant to the intestinal tract.
