Rose hips are useful for acute diseases, such as childhood diseases; as well as colds, flues and fevers. The vitamin C content in rose hips helps to shorten the duration of the common cold and relieve some of its symptoms. Rose hips also help in the absorption of vitamin C.
It is useful for preventing and healing infections. Large doses of vitamin C from Rose hips, have been known to cure cancer and in smaller doses has been a preventative to cancer. It has found to have a mild laxative and diuretic effect. This is thought to be due to the presence of malic and citric acids or the purgative glycosides.
- Rose hips have the highest vitamin C content of all herbs, and contain the entire C complex which includes bioflavonoids.
