Vitamin B15 is a water-soluble vitamin. It is not a vitamin in the strict sense because it has not been proven to be an essential requirement for the body. Vitamin B15's effect is improved when taken with vitamin A and vitamin E.
Vitamin B15 (Pangamic acid) exhibits antioxidant properties, and is highly touted for its ability to confer protection against urban air pollutants, extend cell life, stimulate increased immune system response, lower blood cholesterol levels, cure fatigue, assist in the regulation of hormones, neutralize the craving for liquor and lessen the effect of hangovers.
Deficiency: Research has been limited, but indications point to glandular and nerve disorders, heart disease, and diminished oxygenation of living tissue.
Sources: Natural sources for Vitamin B15 include brewers yeast, whole brown rice, sesame and pumpkin seeds.
Precautions: There are no known toxic effects from Vitamin B15, though some users report experiencing nausea initially. This can be avoided by taking Vitamin B15 with food, preferably the largest meal of the day.
Dosage Ranges and Duration of Administration: Usually available in 50 mg. strengths. Daily doses most often used are 50 to 150 mgs. One 50 mg. tablet in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner is often suggested. Those individuals who live in highly polluted areas would benefit from the effects of B15 and it's antioxidant value.
